Disability Awareness for Non - Clinical Healthcare Workers


Description
People with disabilities face significant challenges and barriers every day, especially when they try to access health services. These barriers can stem from inaccessible facilities, inappropriate attitudes, poor communication, and unacceptable treatment.
This course consists of two modules.
The first module explores the concept and definition of what disability is and the types of disabilities or impairments that may affect different people with disability. Additionally, it focuses on the legislative framework and the policies regarding people with disability and finally, it explores the meaning of inclusive healthcare services, as well as the significant barriers of access, people with disabilities face.
The second module analyses the areas where people with disability struggle, when accessing health services due to environmental, attitudinal, communication and interaction barriers. In addition, this module presents useful practices that alleviate each aforementioned area.
