Infection Prevention and Control - Reorientation

Description
The corporate Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program leads and coordinates improvements in the safety and quality of health care at HMC.
The overall goal of the Infection Control Program eLearning course is to develop and rollout a standardized training process across HMC to increase staff awareness in preventing and controlling Health Care Associated infections, that is built upon best evidenced-based infection control practices in healthcare settings.
IPC is a critical component of clinical care, and everyone working in and visiting a healthcare facility, including administrators, staff, patients, and family members, has a role and responsibility in preventing and controlling infection in the healthcare setting.
These IPC education modules have been developed to assist healthcare professionals in understanding the principles of IPC and applying these principles to meet the goals of the HMC IPC program and to ensure that healthcare professionals can provide a safe care environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Understanding the mode of transmission of an infectious agent, as well as knowing how and when to apply basic infection prevention and control principles, is critical for preventing and controlling the spread of infection.
